KCE Tree of Light

Tree of Light 425px wide for website

KCE currently has three Trees of Light. One in Te Kuiti, one in Otorohanga and one in Taumarunui.

These trees, located on Rora Street in Te Kuiti, in Memorial Park in Otorohanga, and on Hakiaha Street in Taumarunui, are adorned in colourful twinkling lights.

More about the trees

The purpose of the Tree of Light is to shine a light year-round on a range of special occasions and awareness events that are dear to the heart of our community.

You’ll be able to watch the trees' lights change colour as the months pass by. For example, they might be red for ANZAC Day, yellow for Daffodil Day, green for Conservation Week, and so on: you choose!

A different occasion or event; a different colour. Read on for how you can be involved…

Get involved

Recommend an occasion

KCE wants the future occasions and events recognised by the Trees to come recommended by you: the community. Email treeoflight@kce.co.nz with your suggestions.

Post your photo online

As the year goes on, show your support on social media by posting your photo(s) of the Tree/s with the hashtag #KCEtree. Don’t forget to write a tribute to the occasion or event.

Some guidelines

We’ve put together some guidelines to help you suggest occasions and events to be recognised by the Trees of Light. Remember, email treeoflight@kce.co.nz  with your suggestions.

  • What we will consider: National awareness days, international awareness days, public holidays, significant regional events
  • What we won't consider: Support for an individual person

Please don't take it to heart if your suggested occasion or event is not chosen. We would love to light up for every occasion and event, but the volume of requests we receive mean it's not quite possible!

Hearing back from us:

We commit to reading every email request. After careful consideration, we will announce on our Facebook page at the start of every month which occasion(s) and/or event(s) will be recognised by the Trees.

Feel free to enter as many suggestions you like, as frequently as you like; so long as they fit our guidelines!
