KCE retails electricity to homes, farms and businesses across the King Country, Waikato, Waipa and Central North Island regions.

We're owned by local people, employ local people, and provide energy to local people. We are passionate about our heartland New Zealand roots and the wonderful people we serve.

Along with a commitment to renewable energy, KCE actively supports our communities through multiple stand-alone community events, funding initiatives, and the Heartland Community Fund.

Our Customers

We currently have about 18,000 customers in total, which is almost 75% of the King Country region’s electricity consumers.

Our Shareholders

KCE is a public company. King Country Energy is a public company and our two largest shareholders are Trustpower Ltd and King Country Electric Power Trust. The remaining shares are held by around 6,486 smaller shareholders, many of whom reside in the King Country area.

Our Power Stations

KCE owns four hydro power stations located within the King Country region - Kurutau, Wairere, Mokauiti and Piriaka -  and the Mangahao hydro power station near Shannon.
