King Country Energy announce new director

Today we announce that Catherine Thompson, general manager of regulatory and risk at Manawa Energy, stepped down as director of KCE on 29 September 2023.

Todd Mead, General Manager – Generation for Manawa Energy, will be stepping into the role, bringing with him over 25 years of management and technical experience in the renewable energy industry. Todd has led teams developing new renewable energy projects, managed O&M activities, and has overseen major refurbishment and upgrade projects in New Zealand, Australia, and the US. Todd joined Manawa Energy in 2015 and was most recently head of development, focusing on increasing our renewable energy portfolio.

“KCE plays an important role within the local community and I am especially looking forward to learning more about both the people and the assets within the company. I’m really excited to navigate the next stages of what has been a really interesting journey thus far.”

Prior to this, he led the engineering, project management, and production teams with strategic asset management and project delivery responsibility for Manawa Energy’s 38 hydropower stations.

Todd holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Auckland, a Master of Engineering Management from the University of Colorado, and has completed Melbourne Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

We would like to thank Catherine for her support and guidance, and we welcome Todd into his new role on the board of KCE.
