In 2018 Trustpower and the King Country Electric Power Trust entered into an agreement to take over King Country Energy Ltd.
The final step in this process was the compulsory acquisition of the remaining minor shareholdings.
The documentation to complete the share transfers was mailed to all shareholders using the most recent postal address. Shareholders were required to return documentation to sell their shares.
Any share proceeds not claimed were held in trust for 5 years – as required by law Funds not claimed within 5 years have now been passed to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
Historic Share funds can be claimed through Inland Revenue – this money cannot be claimed via KCE it can only be claimed by contacting the IRD.
