Change of Directors announced for King Country Energy

King Country Energy (KCE) has today announced the appointment of Rob Buchanan to its Board of Directors, effective 1 September 2022.

Buchanan will replace Peter Calderwood on the KCE Board. Calderwood steps down following his departure from Manawa Energy (formerly Trustpower) in January. He has held the role since March 2018.

“Calderwood’s wealth of experience across the energy sector has been invaluable to King Country Energy over his four years as a member of the Board,” says Chairman of the KCE Board, Kevin Palmer.

“We thank him for his dedication and contributions made whilst serving as a Board member, and wish him well for the future as he pursues strategic consultancy and governance roles.”

Incoming director Rob Buchanan, current General Manager Growth and Trading at Manawa Energy, will lead alongside incumbent Board Chair Kevin Palmer and director Robert Carter.

Buchanan brings significant experience to the Board, including 18 years in investment banking, most recently as Head of M&A at Forsyth Barr. At Manawa Energy he leads their energy trading, customer, and new development portfolios.

Buchanan graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business, and has an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

“We’d like to extend a warm welcome as he joins the KCE Board, and look forward to utilising his expertise across the operation,” says Palmer.
